Men's Tennis Sweeps Assumption, Set for Showdown with Bentley to Decide NE-10
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – With one match remaining against
Bentley University on Saturday to decide the Northeast-10
Conference regular season Championship, the Merrimack College men's
tennis team moved one step closer to an undefeated Conference
season with a 9-0 sweep of Assumption College Thursday afternoon at
the University of New Hampshire.
The clean sheet is the fourth for the Warriors this season as
they improve to 11-3 overall and 10-0 in Northeast-10 Conference
play.
Freshman Petar Golijanin
(Novi Sad, Serbia) picked up his eighth straight singles
win at No. 3, while sophomore Sean Pahler (Rumson,
NJ) improved to 9-0 in Northeast-10 singles play as he won
his seventh straight match in dual match play.
The tandem of junior Tim McHugh (Edgartown, MA)
and sophomore Max Eppley (Malaga,
Spain) won their eighth straight match at No. 3 singles
while jumping to 8-0 in Northeast-10 competition.
The Warriors will travel to Bentley University on Saturday,
April 17th for a Northeast-10 Conference championship of
sorts at 10:00am when they square off with the also-undefeated
Falcons (10-0), who have swept the opposition in all but two
matches (Stonehill, 7-2; Adelphi, 8-1).
