Women's Tennis Falls to Northeast-10 Undefeated Southern New Hampshire
RYE, NH – Forced indoors by the rain on Friday, the
Merrimack College women's tennis team fell to top-ranked
Southern New Hampshire University (15-1, 12-0 NE-10) in straight
sets at Wentworth by the Sea, 9-0.
For senior Cristina Lucin (Wesley Chapel, FL),
it was her first Northeast-10 Conference loss of the season, as she
fell to Amber Chandronnait, 6-4, 6-0.
With the win, the Penmen clinch a share of the Northeast-10
regular season title, the first in program history. Southern
New Hampshire also clinched the No. 1 seed in the upcoming NE-10
Tournament, as it defeated current second-place team Stonehill
(14-2, 11-1 NE-10) 6-3 on April 1.
Currently tied with Assumption at 5-6, the Warriors will need to
match up with the Greyhounds in the final match of the season on
Sunday, April 18th in Worcester to potentially decide
who grabs the final spot in the postseason and right to play
Southern New Hampshire.
The Warriors play their second to last match of the regular
season tomorrow (Saturday) against Bentley University (9-8, 8-4
NE-10) at the Waltham Tennis Club following the men's tennis
match versus Bentley at noon.
