Women's Tennis Earns Post-Season Berth, Travels to SNHU Wednesday

WORCESTER, MA – Clinching a No. 8 seed in the Northeast-10 Conference tournament with a win over Assumption College, 8-1, the Merrimack College women's tennis team finished the 2009-10 regular season 6-7 in Conference play in Worcester on Sunday.

The Warriors will face the top-seeded Penmen of Southern New Hampshire University (16-1, 13-0 NE-10) on Wednesday in Manchester.  On Friday, Merrimack was swept 9-0 by the Penmen at Wentworth by the Sea in Rye, New Hampshire.

On Sunday, seniors Cristina Lucin (Wesley Chapel, FL) and Caitlin Dunn (Middleton, MA) led the way against with No. 1 and No. 2 singles wins to go with a No. 1 doubles win as a team to push their season mark to 7-4 as a duo.

Sophomore Siobhan Licudine (Mansfield, MA) improved to 5-3 on the season in Northeast-10 singles play with her second straight win at No. 6, with an 8-2 pro-set victory.

The Warriors swept singles play against the Greyhounds and did so in straight set fashion to close out the regular season.
