NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack College men's tennis team has earned a shot at the Northeast-10 Conference tournament championship on Sunday at Stonehill College against top-seeded Bentley University following a 5-2 win over Stonehill at North Andover High School Thursday afternoon.

Junior Liam Hoare (West Newbury, MA) won the clinching match in a tie-break at No. 5 singles while freshman Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) captured a No. 3 singles win, 6-2, 6-1 and sophomore Sean Pahler (Rumson, NJ) won at No. 4 singles in straight sets.

The Warriors second straight trip to the Championship is also only the second time in school history.  A year ago, Merrimack defeated Bentley in the semifinals, 5-1, before falling to Stonehill in the championship match.  Then-freshman Rishi Rajpal (New Delhi, India) led the Warriors with a No. 1 singles win and No. 2 singles win over the Falcons.

This year, the Warriors look to avenge a 6-3 loss at the Waltham Indoor Courts on April 17th to Bentley University, who improved to 15-3 on the year with a 5-0 win over #5 Adelphi in the semifinals on Thursday.
