Men's Tennis Falls in NE-10 Championship to Bentley
EASTON, MA – Looking to avenge their only loss of the
Northeast-10 Conference regular season, the Merrimack College men's
tennis team fell short to Bentley University in the Conference
title match Sunday afternoon at Stonehill College, 5-0.
“I'm really proud of the way the guys played today,"
said head coach Chris Stevens. "We fought
hard, especially in the doubles and although the outcome
isn't what we wanted I feel good about how the team has
continued to improve throughout the year and played its best tennis
when it counted most. Now we have to regroup and hope we get an
NCAA bid.”
Despite the sweep, sophomore Sean Pahler (Rumson,
NJ) and junior Tim McHugh (Edgartown,
MA) were named to the all-Championship team.
With the Conference season complete, the Warriors—ranked
fifth in the last regional poll (see below)—await the NCAA
selection show on Wednesday, April 28th at
7:00pm to see if they will compete in a third
straight NCAA tournament.
