Strong Second Half Gives #10 Women's Lacrosse 20-10 Victory
NORTH ANDOVER, MA – The Merrimack women's lacrosse
team, ranked tenth in this week's IWLCA National Poll,
outscored Bentley 11-2 in the second half to pick up its third
straight victory, 20-10 Thursday night at Warrior Field.
In a rematch of last year's Northeast-10 Quarterfinal,
Merrimack netted seven straight goals in the first 10:58 of the
second to take a commanding 16-8 lead. Christina
McCarron (Westwood, MA) netted two goals in the run,
while Meredith Prior
(Branford, CT) added two others.
Mia
Basile (Longmeadow, MA) tallied a game-high four goals
and needs two more to move into second-place all-time on
Merrimack's all-time scoring list. Maddie Basile
(Longmeadow, MA) added three goals and five points in the
victory, while Kelly
Pasquantonio (Plainville, MA) had two goals and two
assists and picked up four draw controls. For the second straight
game, Mary
Pasquantonio (Plainville, MA) had a team-high six draw
controls and caused two turnovers. Colleen Strachan
(Bedford, MA) picked up two goals and caused six
turnovers, while Alicia Tinsley
(Shrewsbury, MA) added three goals in the victory.
Jamie-Lee
Whiteway (Billerica, MA) stopped six shots in the
victory, as Merrimack forced 22 Falcon turnovers.
The Warriors jumped out to an early 4-1 lead and led 9-8 at
halftime behind goals from six different players.
Merrimack (5-2, 4-2 NE-10) hosts Assumption College on Saturday
at 1 p.m. at Warrior Field.
