#6 Men's Lacrosse Downs Assumption 12-6 in Tune-up for Playoffs
WORCESTER, MA – The sixth-ranked Merrimack men's lacrosse
team defeated Assumption College 12-6 Saturday afternoon and will
enter the Northeast-10 Tournament as the second seed for the second
straight year.
Merrimack (11-3, 9-1 NE-10) will receive a bye in the
Northeast-10 Quarterfinals and will host the winner of #3
Adelphi/#6 Saint Anselm on Friday (time TBA) at Warrior Field. The
winners of the semis will square off in the championship on Sunday
at the highest remaining seed.
Quarterfinal games are scheduled for Tuesday.
Eight different Warriors netted goals in the win, including a
game-high three from Nick Vazquez
(Haverhill, MA).
The visitors put the game away early, leading 7-1 after just
8:50, behind three from Vazquez, two from Greg Fallon
(North Kingstown, RI), and single goals from Bryan MacPhie
(Scarborough, ME) and Nick Maggio
(Winchester, MA). Freshmen Matthew
Dellaquila (Mattituck, NY) and Ryan Hunt (Scarborough,
ME) also chipped in with goals, while Eric Peterson
(Franklin, MA) picked up his first career assist.
“I liked the way we came out today especially after
Wednesday's loss,” said head coach Mike Morgan.
“Hopefully, this will give us some momentum heading into the
playoffs in front of what should be a big crowd on
Friday.”

Spinale (Wakefield, MA) made three saves in 15 minutes
in net, before giving way to Connor Reagan (East
Lyme, CT) who had six stops.
Corey
Lunney (Little Silver, NJ) and Mark Webber
(Mansfield, MA) each had two assists, while Maggio won
12-of-16 draws, and Patrick Coskren
(Norwood, MA) won all six of his faceoffs.
