Men's Tennis Prevails at Chestnut Hill, 7-2

PHILADELPHIA, Pa.- The Merrimack men's tennis team defeated Chestnut Hill 7-2, Friday afternoon. The Warriors move to 2-0 on the year while the Griffins fall to 1-1.

Merrimack rolled through doubles play, sweeping all three matches. Sean Pahler (Rumson, N.J.) and Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) dropped one game en route to an 8-1 win at the No. 2 doubles slot. The duo of Tim McHugh (Edgartown, Mass.) and Liam Hoare (West Newbury, Mass.) cruised to an 8-3 victory at the third doubles position. In the No. 1 doubles spot, Max Eppley (Malaga, Spain) and Rishi Rajpal (New Delhi, India) pulled out an 8-6 win to cap off the pairs action.

Eppley downed Chestnut Hill's Juan Farah, 6-3, 6-2 at the second singles slot. Golijanin won with ease at the No. 3 spot, downing Pat Joson 6-0, 6-3. Pahler scored a 6-2, 6-3 victory at the fourth singles position. McHugh rounded out Merrimack's points on the day with a 6-3, 7-5 win at the No. 6 slot.

The Warriors take to the courts next at the ITA Regional tournament, being held at Chestnut Hill. The event begins September 18 and wraps up on September 19.
