Volleyball Drops Pair Saturday to Dowling and Queens
WALTHAM, MA – The Merrimack volleyball team concluded
ECC/NE-10 Challenge with a pair of losses, falling to Dowling 3-0
and Queens 3-2 Saturday at Bentley University.
Game scores against Dowling were 25-14, 25-13, 25-9. Against
Queens, Merrimack lost 26-24, 22-25, 25-14, 14-25, 19-17.
Molly Cindric
(Westlake Village, CA) led the way with six digs and five
kills, while Heidi Wroblicky
(Irvine, CA) totaled nine digs defensively in the first
match.
For Dowling, Maja Potpara was one kill shy of a triple-double,
tallying 23 assists, 12 digs and nine kills to go with a .538
attack percentage. Patrycja Klekotka added 17 kills and eight
service aces.
Against Dowling, Cindric notched her second double-double in as
many days and third of the season, on 14 kills and 14 digs, as did
Elyse Lorenz
(Frankfort, IL), who totaled 49 assists and 11 digs to go
with four service aces. Jenna Reilly
(Northport, NY) (11 kills) and Nicole Duarte
(Windham, NH) (12 kills) also were in double-figures
offensively, while Shaunda Forcier
(Gonic, NH) added 17 digs and five kills.
Latoya Edward (20 digs, 17 kills) and LisaMarie Papenthin (13
digs, 16 kills) both registered double-doubles for Queens, who hit
.246 overall and tallied 11 kills in the decisive fifth set which
went to a tiebreak.
Merrimack (1-6, 0-2 NE-10) looks to snap its losing streak when
it returns to conference action Wednesday night at Stonehill
College.
