Volleyball Falls to Stonehill, 3-1
EASTON, Mass.- The Merrimack volleyball team
suffered a 3-1 loss to Stonehill, Wednesday evening. The Warriors
sink to 1-7 on the year and 0-3 in the Northeast-10. The Skyhawks
move to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the conference.
Merrimack took the first set of the match, 25-20, to jump out to
an early 1-0 lead. Stonehill stormed back to claim the next three
sets to earn its first conference win. The final three sets were
tightly contested as each was decided by a two-point margin.
Molly Cindric (Westlake Village, Calif.) paced
the Warriors with 15 kills in the match. Shaunda Forcier
(Gonic, N.H.) contributed 13 kills of her own while Jenna Reilly (Northport, N.Y.) put down 11 balls. Elyse Lorenz
(Frankfort, Ill.) dished out 47 assists in the
four-setter.
"We were very happy with the play tonight. It was probably
our best match so far," said head coach Joey Pacis. "We
had our chances to put sets away but we were not able to
capitalize. We have corrected the mistakes that we were making
earlier in the year, but now we have new ones to iron
out."
Merrimack returns to the friendly confines of Volpe Gym for a
pair of conference home matches to close out the month. The
Warriors will take on Franklin Pierce, September 25, and UMass
Lowell, September 28.
