No. 16 Merrimack Stunned by Assumption, 1-0
WORCESTER, Mass.- The No. 16 Merrimack
women's soccer team suffered a 1-0 loss to Assumption
Wednesday evening. The Warriors now fall to 6-2-1 overall and 6-1-0
in the Northeast-10. The Greyhounds move up to 2-6-1 on the year
and 2-5 in the league.
Neither squad could net a goal in the first 45 minutes of play.
Assumption took the lead minutes into the second half. Erin Kinback
tallied the Greyhounds' lone goal of the game off of a cross
from the right flank from Nicole Savi.
Between the two teams, only 14 shots were attempted in the
match. Merrimack held the edge in shots, 8-6, and narrowly owned
the advantage in shots on frame, 4-3. The Warriors also earned four
corner kicks in the game while the Greyhounds were rewarded with
just one.
Seven different Warriors registered a shot in the contest.
Jenn Pino (North Andover, Mass.) paced the
visitors with two attempts.
Kiley Horne (Scituate, Mass.) made two saves in
the game for Merrimack. Lauren Keating turned aside four shots for
Assumption.
