SYRACUSE, NY - The #17 Merrimack women's soccer team eked out a 1-0 victory at Le Moyne Saturday afternoon. The Warriors improved to 11-1-0 on the year with the win and 9-1-0 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The Dolphins flutter to 3-8-0 overall and 2-7-0 in the league.

Jenna Zechner (Billerica, MA) provided all of the offense needed for Merrimack to earn the victory. Zechner headed home a corner kick by Jamie Alnwick (Groton, MA) in the 19th minute of the match to give the Warriors a 1-0 advantage.

Merrimack fired 12 shots in the first half while limiting Le Moyne to three. The Warriors also earned seven corner kicks in the opening frame while letting up just two.

The visitors dominated the second period but were unable to tack on an insurance goal. Merrimack attempted 15 shots in the half with seven being on target.

The Warriors concluded the match with a lopsided 27-8 margin in shots. Merrimack also earned all six corner kicks that were awarded in the second stanza.

Senior goalkeeper Kiley Horne (Scituate, MA) stopped the only shot that she faced in the contest to record her 11th win and fourth clean sheet of the season.

"We played really well today and we had plenty of opportunities to score," said head coach Gabe Mejail. "I was proud of the way that we came out and our team really wanted the win, especially after the loss in our last game. Our defense had another solid game and their communication was good."

Merrimack travels to face local rival UMass Lowell October 12 in a Northeast-10 Conference match at 7 pm.
