Baseball Rallies Past St. Thomas (FL) 7-6

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – A ninth-inning rally propelled the Merrimack baseball team over St. Thomas 7-6 Sunday afternoon. The Warriors claim their fifth-straight victory to improve to 6-3 on the season.

Trailing 6-5 in the ninth inning, Merrimack received a lead-off single by Joe Mantoni (Hopedale, Mass.). Joe Santos (Ashland, Mass.) and PJ Farnham (Andover, Mass.) each followed suit with singles to load the bases for the Warriors.

Paul Arce (West Hartford, Conn.) drove in the tying run with a one-out infield single, pushing Mantoni across the plate. Mark O'Flynn (Ipswich, Mass.) plated the winning-run with an RBI fielder's choice.

Mantoni went 3-for-3 from the dish with a run and two RBIs. Tim Curran (South Weymouth, Mass.) turned in a 2-for-4 batting performance with two singles and an RBI while also touching the plate once. Mike Dooling (Milford, Conn.) was also 2-for-4 from the plate on the day with two runs scored and one run batted in.

Rookie Travis Terrill (Hudson, N.H.) earned his first collegiate win on the mound with four innings of relief pitching. Terrill surrendered one earned run and two hits while striking out three batters. Chris Pinette (Norwood, Mass.) picked up the save with one inning pitched and no hits allowed.

The Warriors will look to close out the trip with a 4-0 record in the Sunshine State as they take on Barry March 21.
