Women's Lacrosse Earns 22-2 Win over Converse

CONVERSE, NC – The Merrimack women's lacrosse team rebounded Thursday night with a 22-2 victory over Converse, concluding its two-game trip down south with a 1-1 record.

Thirteen different Warriors picked up goals, led by Colleen Strachan (Bedford, MA), who tallied three goals and three assists in the win. Alicia Tinsley (Shrewsbury, MA) added a game-high four goal, while four players had two each, including Dara Hayes (Calgary, AB) and Tyler Szymanski (Framingham, MA), who tallied the first two goals of their careers.

Christine Hurley (Franklin, MA) added her first career goal, while Katie Martin (Lincoln, RI) added her first collegiate assist.  Katherine Millin (Norwood, MA) also had her first career points, notching a goal and an assist.

Liz Lyons (Westwood, MA) was stellar defensively, picking up eight ground balls and causing five turnovers.

Merrimack led 8-0 and scored 22 of the first 23 goals in the victory.

"It was a great team effort," said head coach Corinne Baker.  "We rebounded nicely after a tough loss Monday. We got a lot of good looks to our underclassmen, and it helped build our depth. We saw a lot of improvements defensively that will help us in our upcoming games."

Merrimack 4-2, 1-1 NE-10) will visit New Haven Saturday at 1 p.m. in a rematch of last year's Northeast-10 Quarterfinal, which the Warriors prevailed in North Andover.
