LOWELL, Mass. – Despite a pitching gem by freshman Travis Terrill (Hudson, N.H.), the Merrimack baseball team suffered its third-straight loss Tuesday evening. The Warriors fell 2-0 to UMass Lowell under the lights of LeLacheur Park to sink to 13-25 overall and 5-17 in the Northeast-10 Conference. The River Hawks improved to 34-8 on the year and 17-6 in league action with the win.

Terrill went the distance for Merrimack, tossing his first collegiate complete game. The rookie worked all eight innings and allowed two runs while striking out five on the night. Offensivley, Mark O'Flynn (Ipswich, Mass.) picked up two of the Warriors' three hits in the game. Brett Julian (Weymouth, Mass.) recorded the visitors' only other base knock.

Lowell got on the board in the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead. After leading off the inning with a single, Sean Burns scored on an RBI single by Dylan Flynn. The River Hawks loaded the bases with one out but Terrill was able to get out of the jam by inducing a double play.

The hosts added their second run of the contest in the bottom of the fifth. Matt Jacobs laced a two-out double to right center. Cam Kneeland knocked in Jacobs from second with an RBI single to left field.

"We played well on the defensive side of the ball tonight. Our defense got us out of some tight situations tonight," said head coach Jim Martin. "When we meet this team later this week, it should be another great game."

Merrimack returns to Warrior Diamond for back-to-back home games May 4 and 5. The Warriors will host Franklin Pierce May 4. Merrimack and Lowell are scheduled for a rematch of Tuesday's game May 5 on the Warriors' home soil.
