Field Hockey Ready to Battle #10 Bentley in the 2011 Home-Opener

NORTH ANDOVER, MA – Coming off of a 1-1 trip to the Keystone State to open the 2011 season, the Merrimack field hockey team returns to take on #10 Bentley in the home opener Thursday evening at Warrior Field.

The Warriors fell to #8 Indiana (PA) 4-2 in the season opener before shocking #6 East Stroudsburg 3-2 in overtime.

April Daugherty (Wakefield, RI) leads the team with six points on two goals and two assists. Candice Waldie (North Andover, MA) has a pair of tallies to her credit this season.

Kerri Bergquist (Mashpee, MA) has played every minute between the pipes for Merrimack this season. She owns a 2.96 goals-against average this fall. The junior was tabbed the Northeast-10 Conference Goaltender of the Week after stopping seven shots in the Warriors season-opening loss and making 21 saves in the overtime victory.

Bentley enters the contest with an overall record of 1-2 on the year.
