MERRIMACK HOSTS ASSUMPTION ON SENIOR DAY AND HOMECOMING WEEKEND
Game 8 - Merrimack College (4-4, 3-4 NE-10) vs. Assumption (3-5, 3-4 NE-10)

UPDATE:
Merrimack returns home for possibly their final home game of the 2012 season on Saturday as they will take on Assumption as a part of their Senior Day. The Warriors enter the game after falling 38-21 in their last game against the Bentley Falcons on the road. Assumption is coming off of a 59-31 victory at home against Pace.

SERIES:
Merrimack has a lifetime 12-3 record against Assumption including dropping their last contest with the Greyhounds by the score of 44-24 on the road.


TURNOVERS KILL MERRIMACK IN ROAD LOSS TO BENTLEY:
The Merrimack football team was defeated on Saturday afternoon on the road at Bentley by the score of 38-21. The Warriors turned the ball over three times in the defeat as the Falcons scored on all of the turnovers. Merrimack senior quarterback Joe Clancy continued to excel in the offense on Saturday as he broke the 300 yard plateau for the seventh time in eight games in the loss, finishing with 321 yards and a touchdown. Senior All-American wide receiver Isaiah Voegeli continued to pile up huge numbers in the loss as he grabbed nine passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. Voegeli leads the NE-10 in all receiving categories including yards by more than 300 yards. Jimon Hill finished the game as the leading rusher for Merrimack as he compiled 40 yards on 11 carries and scored one touchdown. Defensive end Matt Tripicchio continued to lead the Warriors defense as he finished the game with a team-high eight tackles including 1.5 tackles for a loss.

CLANCY CONTINUES TO PUT UP HUGE NUMBERS IN LOSS:
Merrimack quarterback Joe Clancy continues to put up monster numbers in head coach John Perry's high octane offense as he broke the 300 yard mark for the seventh time in eight games, the only game he did not break the mark he finished with 275 yards. Clancy finished the loss against Bentley on Saturday going 24-for-47 for 321 yards and one touchdown. Clancy spread the ball around against Bentley like he has been all year as he found eight different receivers including his favorite target, Isaiah Voegeli, nine times. Six receivers recorded at least two catches for the game and four receivers racked up at least 40 receiving yards.

VOEGELI LEADS NATION IN RECEIVING YARDS:
Senior wide receiver Isaiah Voegeli continued to lead the Warriors and the nation in catches on Saturday as he grabbed 10 passes for a NE-10 record 269 yards and four touchdowns. The four touchdown catches ties a school record, leaving him seven shy of the career touchdown record. For the season, Voegeli has 76 catches for 1,086 yards and 11 touchdowns. He ranks first in the country in total receiving yards, first in receiving yards per game and first in receptions per game with 10.9. He sits atop the NE-10 in all receiving categories and has been named to the NE-10 Honor Roll on six ocassions so far this season including five straight weeks. Voegeli set the NE-10 record last week with 269 receiving yards, breaking his own mark set in week five against Pace.

HILL PRODUCES ON THE GROUND AND AIR:
Senior running back Jimon Hill continued to produce in the pass heavy Merrimack offense on Saturday against Bentley as he finished with 86 total yards. Hill ran for 40 yards on 11 carries and a touchdown and he also grabbed five passes for 46 yards including a long catch of 14 yards. Hill has rushed for 458 yards and five touchdowns while racking up 33 catches for 257 yards. He leads the team in rushing and ranks fourth on the team in receptions for the season.

CLANCY TOP FIVE IN MULTIPLE PASSING CATEGORIES:
Senior captain Joe Clancy currently ranks in the top five in the country in multiple passisng categories including yards, yards per game, completions and attempts. Clancy's 3,065 passing yards ranks him fifth in the country while his 383.13 passing yards per contest ranks him second. His 400 pass attempts and 257 completions rank him fourth in the country for all quarterbacks. All of Clancy's passing statistics rank him first in the conference for the season including his 21 touchdown passes.

SPREADING THE WEALTH:
The Merrimack offense is known to spread the ball around to all of its receivers and on Saturday this was no different as starting quarterback Joe Clancy found eight different targets during the Warriors 38-21 loss at the hands of the Bentley Falcons on the road. Clancy completed nine passes to his favorite target, Isaiah Voegeli, for 141 yards and one touchdown. Jimon Hill hauled in five passes out of the backfield in the loss for 46 yards while senior Shane Ferguson had two catches for 63 yards including a 55 yard reception in the opening half of play. Tight end Steve Serwon continued his solid play for the Warriors as he grabbed four balls for 24 yards and a touchdown in the defeat. Zach Ingalls had a productive day in the slot as he grabbed three passes for 44 yards including a 18 yard reception. 

HOLT LEADS THE SECONDARY IN ALL CATEGORIES:
Senior cornerback Artis Holt leads the Merrimack secondary in all categories. He ranks second on the team in total tackles with 51, leads the team with two interceptions and leads the team with 11 pass breakups to go along with one fumble recovery. Holt continues to lock down the top receiving threat of the opponent and also returns kicks for the Warriors. For the season, Holt is averaging 23.4 yards per kick off return.

TRIPICCHIO CONTINUES TO LEAD DEFENSIVE LINE:
Junior Matt Tripicchio continued to impress on Saturday as he recorded eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for a loss in the defeat.  Tripicchio now leads the NE-10 in tackles for a loss on the season. For the season, Tripicchio ranks third on the team in total tackles (42), first in tackles for a loss (13.5), first in sacks (2.5), first in quarterback hurries (6) and fifth in pass break ups (3).

VOEGELI CHASING MERRIMACK SCHOOL RECORDS:
Senior wide receiver Isaiah Voegeli has etched his name in the Merrimack College record books and is looking to establish himself as the best wide receiver ever in school histoy. Voegeli broke the school record for receiving yards in a career against AIC and he now has 3,281 receiving yards. Voegeli also ranks first in career receptions and second in career touchdown catches with 32. The record for career touchdown receptions is 38, set by Chris Laham (05-08).

PERRY'S HIGH OCTANE OFFENSE RETURNS IN 2012:
After leading the NE-10 in total offense for the past four seasons, John Perry has his offense once again at the top of the league in 2012. The Warriors rank first in total offense averaging 514.2 yards per game and first in passing averaging 389.0 yards. The 389.0 passing yards and 514.2 total yards  per contest rank the Warriors in fourth and third place respectively in the country. Merrimack also ranks second in the conference averaging 38.1 points per contest after  setting a Northeast-10 Conference record with 81 points against Saint Anselm two weeks ago. The Merrimack offense posesses the leading quarterback and wide receiver in total yards in the conference and have scored 30 or more points in five of eight games while scoring 60 or more in two contests.

WARRIORS SCORING STREAK REACHES 122 GAMES:
Merrimack has scored points in 122 consecutive games heading into this weeks matchup with Bentley, which ranks them in the top 20 for current point streaks. Valdosta State leads the nation by scoring in 249 consecutive games while conference foe Bentley is the only other Northeast-10 school ranked inside the top 20, scoring in 133 straight. The Warriors have scored 60 or more points on three ocassions during the streak including a NE-10 record 81 points in a win against Saint Anselm.

 Worcester, Mass. – The Merrimack football team fell to the Assumption Greyhounds on Friday night at the Multi-Sports Stadium by the score of 44-24. The loss drops the Warriors record to 4-2 (3-1 NE-10). With a 20 point deficit facing the Warriors, senior James Suozzo put together an 11 play 67 yard drive that ended with a 20 yard completion to Mobley for a touchdown with 8:11 left in the third to cut the lead to 30-17. On the ensuing drive for the Greyhounds they controlled the tempo as they drove down the field on a 16 play scoring drive that ate up 8:47 off of the clock. The touchdown by Pedone pushed the score to 37-17. The next three Merrimack drives ended with three interceptions and a interception return for a touchdown that made the score 44-17 in favor of the Greyhounds. The Merrimack offense regrouped and scored on a 57 yard touchdown pass from Joe Clancy (Newburyport, Mass.) to Quinn McDonough (Medford, Mass.) for a touchdown with 3:54 left in the game to cut the score to 44-24. McDonough broke four tackles on his way to an amazing touchdown run. Assumption recovered the ensuing onside kick attempt and wasted out the rest of the clock. Senior All-American linebacker Shawn Loiseau finished with a game-high 19 tackles for the Warriors as he took over the all-time career tackles record at Merrimack.  Suozzo finished the game with 202 passing yards and a touchdown while Clancy finished the game 4 for 6 for 79 yards and a scoring strike. Voegeli led Merrimack with 84 yards receiving on eight receptions and Weaver chipped in with five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown. Assumption running back Matt Pedone led the way for the Greyhounds as he finished the game with 159 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. Paul Perez ended the game with seven receptions for 100 yards and one touchdown.

WALTHAM, MA – Despite another 300 yard passing performance from senior quarterback Joe Clancy (Newburyport, Mass.), the Merrimack football team was downed on Saturday by the Bentley Falcons by the score of 38-21. With the loss, Merrimack falls to 4-4 overall and 3-4 in the NE-10. Clancy produced his seventh 300 plus passing performance of the season in the loss as he finished going 24-for-47 for 321 yards and one touchdown. Senior All-American Isaiah Voegeli (Hyannis, Mass.) continued to produce big numbers as he finished the game with nine catches for 141 yards and one touchdown while fellow senior Shane Ferguson (Point Pleasant Beach, NJ) finished with two grabs for 63 yards. Jimon Hill (North Chicago, Ill.) led the way on the ground with 40 yards and one touchdown. Merrimack was led defensively by junior defensive lineman Matt Tripicchio (Lake Zurich, Ill.) who finished with a team-high eight tackles in the loss. Senior linebacker Michael Jones (Chicago, Ill.) also finished the game with eight tackles while Carl Brescia (Farmingdale, NY) finished with six tackles and a half of a sack. Merrimack scored a touchdown with 17 seconds remaining to make the score a more respectable 38-21 defeat as backup quarterback Luke Bakanowsky (Ashburnham, Mass.) found Steve Serwon (Amesbury, Mass.) for a five yard touchdown. Bakanowsky finished the game going 4-for-5 for 46 yards and one touchdown in the final quarter of action. The Falcons received great play from their starting quarterback as he finished the game going 19-for-34 for 341 yards and four total touchdowns in the win. The Falcons had two receivers break the 100 yard plateau as Hill finished with 198 yards and two touchdowns and Sean Cross finished with six catches for 107 yards.
