Women's Tennis Defeated 9-0 at Endicott
BEVERLY, MA – The Merrimack women's tennis team was defeated on Thursday afternoon by the score of 9-0 by the Endicott Gulls. With the loss, Merrimack is now 1-2 on the season and the Gulls improve to 9-1.
Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) was the lone Warrior in singles action to force three sets as she was defeated by Emilie Cloutier by the score of 3-6, 6-3, 7-10. Tiana Dame (Wachusett, Mass.) put in a great effort in her singles match but was defeated by the score of 5-7, 3-6.
The Warriors were unable to pick up a victory in doubles action as Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) and Mollie Fitzgerald (Melrose, Mass.) were defeated in two sets. Hole and Fitzgerald lost the first set 9-8 and then forced extra points in the second set, falling 13-11. In number three doubles action, Dame and Katie Veasey (Atkinson, NH) put in a good fight but they were defeated 8-5.
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday as they will travel to Saint Rose for a conference match at 1 p.m..
