Women's Tennis Picks Up 8-1 Victory At Saint Rose
ALBANY, NY – The Merrimack women's tennis team picked up their second victory of the fall season on Saturday at Saint Rose, downing the Golden Knights 8-1. With the win, Merrimack improves to 2-2 on the season and 2-0 in conference action.
The Warriors won all three doubles points and won five of six singles matches in the dominant 8-1 victory on Saturday.
In singles action, Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) continued her solid play by picking up the 8-1 victory over Sarah Klein from Saint Rose. Freshman Tiana Dame (Wachusett, Mass.) downed her opponent 8-2 and Katie Veasey (Atkinson, NH) picked up the solid 6-1, 6-0 victory. The lone singles loss for the Warriors came as Jennifer Crego defeated Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) in three sets by the score of 6-3, 1-6 and 10-4.
In doubles action, the duo of Mollie Fitzgerald (Melrose, Mass.) and Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) dominated their opponents, winning 8-1. Veasey and Dame downed Alyssa Haddad and Maggie Moran from Saint Rose by the score of 8-4 to pick up a point for the Warriors while in number one doubles Messina and Muller picked up the 8-5 win.
The Warriors will return to action tomorrow as they will host the Franklin Pierce Ravens at 2:30 p.m.
