NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Turning its sights to the second half of the season as the month of October begins, the Merrimack College field hockey team, in the midst of a three-game winning streak, will travel to Rindge, N.H., to square off against Franklin Pierce University in a Northeast-10 Conference clash on Tuesday night.

The Basics
Date/Time:
Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013 | 6 p.m.
Records:
Merrimack (5-3, 1-0 NE-10) | Franklin Pierce 1-6, 0-1 NE-10)
Location:
Sodexo Field | Rindge, N.H.

Last Time Out (Merrimack 7, Adelphi 1)
Merrimack exploded for a season-high seven-goal output, and that proved to be too much for visiting Adelphi, as the Warriors thrashed the Panthers, 7-1, in both sides' Northeast-10 Conference opener on Saturday night at Martone-Mejail Field.

Six different players tallied a point for the home side, as the Warriors built a 3-1 advantage through 35 minutes before dominating the second half by means of four more uncontested tallies to account for the final margin of victory.

Junior Abbey Stacey (Sidney, Maine) and sophomore Katrina Squeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) each tallied two goals apiece for the home side, while sophomore Madison Davis (San Jose, Calif.) allowed just one goal over 70 minutes to backstop the Warriors to the win.

Last Season vs. Franklin Pierce
Merrimack had little trouble against Franklin Pierce in a pair of contests in 2012; the Warriors  out-scored the Ravens by a 14-1 margin in both of those games.

First, on Sept. 18, Merrimack blanked Franklin Pierce, 6-0, on its home turf before traveling to Rindge for a conference clash on Oct. 4, and the Warriors continued their dominance with an 8-1 road win over the Ravens to sweep the season series.

The Warriors:

  • Have won a season-high three straight contests heading into Tuesday night
  • Have outscored the opposition by a 16-2 margin during that stretch
  • Have scored no fewer than four goals in each of the last three games after totaling just two goals in back-to-back losses midway through September
  • Rank second in scoring offense (3.6 gpg) and third in total goals (29) but sixth in scoring defense (2.10 GAA) and eighth in save percentage (69%)
  • Senior Candace Waldie (North Andover, Mass.) ranks third in the conference with eight goals and fourth in total points (20) while classmate Jessica Otis (Pittsford, N.Y.) ranks third with six assists

The Ravens:

  • After starting the year with a 6-1 victory against Dowling, have lost six straight in that span
  • Have scored more than one goal just twice over the past six games and have been outscored by a 25-8 margin since Sept. 7
  • Are coming off a 4-90 blanking against LIU Post on Friday at home
  • Rank eighth in goals scored (14) and 11th in shots on goal (53) among all league teams
  • Goalkeeper Amy Zahensky has totaled 53 saves, fourth-most among all conference keepers
