NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After shutting down Stonehill, 2-0, Wednesday night, the Merrimack College women's soccer team challenges the No. 4 Saint Rose Golden Knights in a Northeast-10 afternoon clash at  Martone-Mejail Field.

Last Time Out

The Warriors went up 2-0 early in the first half and were able to keep the Skyhawk's offense from scoring.

Sophomore Jenna Zechner (Billerica, Mass.) was awarded her first goal of the season off a Merrimack corner kick from senior Jackie Sullivan (North Andover, Mass.). After the corner kick, Zechner was able to get a piece of the ball before a Skyhawk defender headed the ball into her goalkeeper's net.

Five minutes later, senior Jenna Savi (Dedham, Mass.) scored her fifth goal of the season off a short pass from senior Michelle Laramee (Shrewsbury, Mass.), who received the ball from freshman Megan Gada (Bozrah, Conn.). Merrimack extended its lead to 2-0 in the 13th minute of play.

Despite holding a 6-5 advantage in shots in the second half, Stonehill could not manage a goal on the Warriors' defense

Last Season against the Golden Knights

  • Junior forward Zechner attempted a team-high four shots, while goalkeeper Nicole Curtis (Billerica, Mass.) notched three saves in net.
  • Saint Rose players Amanda Vasquez, Brittany Barry, and Sydney Bond each tallied one of the goals for the Golden Knights.
  • Saint Rose outshot the Warriors by a 20-15 margin and also earned a 6-3 lead in corner kicks.

The Warriors:

  • Savi leads the offense with five goals and one assist for 11 points, ninth most among the league.
  • Sullivan currently is tied in second in the NE-10 with five assists, just three shy behind American International.
  • Curtis has accumulated 56 saves this season while posting a .812 save percentage.
  • Merrimack currently ranks 24th in the nation with 1.91 assists

The Opponent:

  • Currently leads the Northeast-10 win an conference record of 8-0-1.
  • Coming off a 4-0 victory to Assumption College on Wednesday night.
  • The Golden Knights lead the NE-10 in both goals scored (31) and goals allowed (1)
  • Senior midfielder Sydney Bond leads the attack with eight goals and two assists for 18 points, seventh most among the league leaders.
