THE WARRIORS LOOK TO CONTINUE THEIR SUCCESS IN THE NE-10 CHAMPIONSHIP

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After qualifying for the Northeast-10 Championship for the ninth straight season, the Merrimack College men's soccer team is seeded second in the NE-10 tournament and will take on seventh-seeded Bentley University Tuesday night at Martone-Mejail Field in the NE-10 Quarterfinals.

Last Time Out
The Warriors held a slight 3-2 edge in shots through the first half. Franklin Pierce earned four corner kicks, while Merrimack earned one in the opening 45 minutes of action.

Franklin Pierce held a 9-4 led in shots in the second period. The Franklin Pierces' defense stymied the Warriors' offense to just four shots. At the conclusion of the 90 minutes of play, the two teams were level at 0-0 with the visitors enjoying an 11-7 advantage in shots.

In the first overtime session, the Ravens edged Merrimack 2-1 in shots. Franklin Pierce registered three shots, while the Warriors tallied one shot. Merrimack goalkeeper Jose Silva (Northborough, Mass.) recorded four huge saves in both overtime frames.

This Season Against the Falcons

  • Merrimack defeated Bentley University 2-1. 
  • Sophomore Augusto Silva (Hudson, Mass.) scored his third career goal, evening the score at one apiece.
  • Junior Henrique Etges (Venancio Aires, Brazil) scored the game winning goal off a free kick that passed by the Bentley's goalkeeper.
  • Bentley outshot Merrimack 14-11, while Merrimack led 17-9 in fouls.

Match 1: #8 Saint Rose at #1 Southern New Hampshire – 7:00 p.m.
Match 2: #5 Le Moyne at #4 Adelphi – 7:00 p.m.
Match 3: #7 Bentley at #2 Merrimack – 7:00 p.m.
Match 4: #6 Franklin Pierce at #3 Southern Connecticut – 7:00 p.m.

Friday, November 8 - Semifinals (at high seeds)
Match 5: Winner of Match 1 vs. Winner of Match 2
Match 6: Winner of Match 3 vs. Winner of Match 4

Sunday, November 10 - Championship (at high seed)
Match 7: Match 5 Winner vs. Match 6 Winner – 1:00 p.m.

  • If Merrimack wins tonight's game against Bentley, the Warriors will host the NE-10 Semifinals Friday night.
  • The Warriors will host the winner of match four (#6 Franklin Pierce/#3 Southern Connecticut) Friday night in the semifinals.

The Warriors:

  • Augusto Silva led the team with 11 total points, as well as four goals and three assists.
  • Junior Jose Silva finished the season with a .875 save percentage, while posting a 0.56 goals-against average.
  • As a team, Merrimack has posted 23 goals this season, while averaging .459 shots on goal percentage.
  • The Warriors rank fourth in the Northeast-10 with 22 assists, while ranking second in the NE-10 with the best defensive record.

The Falcons:

  • Coming off a 2-1 loss to the University of New Haven on Friday.
  • Scott Levy leads the team with 16 points, as well as eight goals.
  • As a team, Bentley finished the season with 24 goals scored and 18 assists.
  • Bentley ranks second in the NE-10 with a .146 shot percentage.
