Men's Tennis Pulls Out 5-4 Win At Florida Tech
MELBOURNE, FLA– The Merrimack men's tennis team edged out Florida Tech on Wednesday afternoon by the score of 5-4. With the win, Merrimack improves to 5-4 overall and 3-0 in Northeast-10 Conference play.
In doubles action, the duo of Vince Bellino (Amesbury, Mass.) and Chris Barnhart (Longmeadow, Mass.) picked up the Warriors first point of the day by the score of 9-7. Chris Toegemann (Narragansett, RI) and Miguel Belfort (Caracas, Venezuela) downed their opponents by the score of 9-8 to give the Warriors the 2-1 advantage after doubles action.
In singles action the Warriors picked up the necessary three points to down the Panthers. Matt Lipinski (Arlington, Mass.) picked up the win at no. 3 singles as he downed his opponent by the score of 6-4, 6-4. Barnhart picked up another victory for the Warriors as he downed Patrick Hernandez by the score of 6-3, 6-4. Toegemann clinched the win for Merrimack with his 6-2, 7-6 victory over Diego Ramirez in no. 6 singles action.
The Warriors will return to the courts on Tuesday, April 2 at 2 p.m. against the American International Yellow Jackets.
