Women's Tennis Upended By Florida Tech, 9-0
SATELLITE BEACH, FLA – The Merrimack women's tennis team was defeated on Wednesday afternoon by the Florida Tech Panthers by the score of 9-0. With the loss, Merrimack is now 2-7 overall and 2-1 in conference play.
In singles action, Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) gave the Warriors their best effort as she was downed by the score of 6-2, 6-2. In no. 1 singles play, Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) was downed by Kristina Huba by the score of 6-0, 6-1.
Mollie Fitzgerald (Melrose, Mass.) and Hole gave the Warriors their best effort in doubles action as they lost by the score of 8-3. Messina and Katie Veasey (Atkinson, NH) were defeated in no. 1 doubles action by the score of 8-1 while Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, NH) and Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) were defeated by the same score in no. 3 doubles.
The Warriors will return to the courts on Monday, April 1 as they will travel to take on Saint Anselm at 3:30 p.m. in a conference match.
