Women's Tennis Suffers 6-3 Setback At New Haven

WEST HAVEN, CT – The Merrimack women's tennis team was defeated on Tuesday afternoon on the road at New Haven by the score of 6-3. With the loss, Merrimack is now 3-8 overall and 3-2 in conference play.

Merrimack picked up all three of their points in singles action on Tuesday. In no. 1 singles play, Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) pulled out a tight victory over Eva Rybka by the score of 11-9 and 6-2. In no. 4 singles, Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, NH) picked up the second win for the Warriors with an 8-6 and 6-2 victory over Samantha Nigri. Erin McMahon (Wilmington, Mass.) picked up a three set victory in her match by the score of 5-7, 6-2 (10-4).

The Warriors no. 2 doubles duo of Barnes and Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) put up the best fight for Merrimack as they pushed the match into a tiebreaker but they were downed by the score of 6-6 (7-4).  

The Warriors will return to action on Wednesday, April 3 as they will travel to take on Assumption for a 3 p.m. match.
