MANCHESTER, NH– The Merrimack men's tennis team won their third straight game by the score of 5-4 on Saturday afternoon as they upended the Southern New Hampshire Penmen. With the win, Merrimack improves to 7-4 overall and 5-0 in NE-10 action, including 15 straight against NE-10 foes.

"I am happy with how we battled out a big win today," said head coach Sean Tully. "Our lower singles players came up with the big points that propelled us over a very good team."

The Warriors no. 3-6 singles players dominated on Saturday afternoon as they picked up all four possible points. Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) was the most dominant of all Merrimack players as he downed his opponent by the score of 6-3, 6-0. Vince Bellino (Amesbury, Mass.) continued his strong play for the Warriors as he defeated Brad Malenich by the score of 6-1, 6-3. Chris Toegemann (Narragansett, RI) defeated his opponent in no. 6 singles by the score of 6-3, 6-2 while Chris Barnhart (Longmeadow, Mass.) picked up the three set victory by the score of 6-4, 4-6 and 6-2.

The Warriors were only able to pick up one point in doubles action but that is all they would need to defeat the Penmen on Saturday. The duo of Golijanin and Toegemann defeated Hamilton and Mukdaprakorn by the score of 8-1.

The Warriors will return home on Sunday to take on the Adelphi Panthers at 12 p.m. at North Andover High School.
