Men's Tennis Continues Conference Win Streak; Edges Adelphi, 5-4
NORTH ANDOVER, MA– The Merrimack men's tennis team won their fourth straight match by the score of 5-4 on Sunday afternoon as they upended the Adelphi Panthers. With the win, Merrimack improves to 8-4 overall and 6-0 in NE-10 action, including 16 straight against NE-10 foes.
Merrimack dominated doubles action on Sunday afternoon as they took all three points from the Panthers. The Merriamck duos of Chris Barnhart (Longmeadow, Mass.) and Vince Bellino (Amesbury, Mass.) and Chris Toegemann (Narragansett, RI) and Petar Golijanin (Novi Sad, Serbia) won their matches by the same score of 8-1. In no. 1 doubles, Matt Lipinski (Arlington, Mass.) and Miguel Belfort (Caracas, Venezuela) stayed hot with a 9-7 victory over their opponents.
In singles action, Merrimack was able to pick up the necessary two points in order to win the contest as Barnhart defeated Sander Brenner by the score of 6-0, 6-2. Bellino also picked up a three set victory over his opponent by the score of 4-6, 6-4, 7-5.
The Warriors will travel to Franklin Pierce for a conference match at 12 pm.
