Women's Tennis Defeated By Chestnut Hill, 6-3

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Merrimack College women's tennis team fell to Chestnut Hill on Friday afternoon by a score of 6-3. With the loss, Merrimack falls 1-1 overall.

How It Happened
The Warriors picked up two of their points in doubles action on Friday afternoon. In no. 1 doubles, Grace Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) and Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) pulled out a tight victory over Charlotte Dawson and Marie Deleval, 8-5. Junior transfer Chealsey Giatrelis and Kara Hole (Portsmouth, RI) picked up the second win for the Warriors with a 9-8 (6-4) victory over Kelly Dennis and Iman Williams-Mulesa.
Giatrelis collected the only singles win of the day against no. 3 single Iman Williams-Mulesa by 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.

"Hard fought matches on both sides," said head coach Peter Arsenault. "We are hoping to grow from these for our conference title push this season."

The women's tennis team returns to action this weekend, when they participate in the ITA East Regional Championship.The tournament begins Saturday, Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. and ends Monday, Sept. 23.
