Women's Tennis Sweeps Saint Rose, 9-0

THE WARRIORS DEFEATED THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS ON SATURDAY

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. - The Merrimack College women's tennis team captured a 9-0 victory over Saint Rose Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened
Merrimack glided to a 3-0 lead at the end of doubles action. At the No. 1 position, Grace Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) and Shakee Messina(Caracas, Venezuela) posted an 8-2 victory. Senior Kara Hole (Portsmouth, R.I.) and junior Chealsey Giatrelis claimed an 8-0 win at the second doubles spot. Senior Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, N.H.) and junior Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) picked up an 8-1 victory at the No. 3 spot.

The Warriors secured its second conference victory with a sweep of six singles matches.

At the No. 1 singles spot, Grace prevailed 6-0, 6-1. Shakee picked up a 6-0, 6-0 victory in No. 2 singles match. Giatrelis secured a 6-0, 6-1 victory a the No. 3 singles match. Hole triumphed 6-0, 6-0 at the fourth spot. In the No. 5 spot, Muller captured a 6-0, 6-1 victory. Barnes posted a 6-1, 6-0 victory.

The Warriors return to the courts as they host Assumption College on Sunday, Sept. 29th at 2:30 p.m. Both matches will be played at North Andover High School.
