What They Said
Head coach Tony Martone: "In the first-half I didn't think we were playing our game. We tried to attack through the middle when the space wasn't there. In the second-half we started utilizing space more and it led to some goals. I'm proud of the way the guys competed tonight especially considering the matchup we have next week."

How It Happened
The first 45 minutes were uneventful, as Merrimack could only muster four shots compared to Saint Rose's zero.

In the second-half, the flow of the game shifted in Merrimack's favor.

Coming off an overtime-winning goal on Tuesday night, freshman Michael Dushman (Bedford, Mass.) scored the first goal in the 64th minute. It was a beautiful strike from 25 yards out, ripping it into the top-left corner of the net.

The play began off a punt from senior goalkeeper Jose Silva (Northborough, Mass.), who was credited with the secondary assist. Jaime Cortes Torres (Seville, Spain) headed the ball to Dushman, getting the primary helper.

Cortes Torres scored his first goal with the Warriors with less than five minutes remaining in the game. He tapped in a header from Josue Ruiz Maya (Madero, Mexico) that deflected off the crossbar. The play began from a ball inserted by Ryan Miller (Holden, Mass.) off a corner kick.

Inside The Numbers

  • Jose Silva returned to the lineup after missing Tuesday's game due to a suspension. He did not have to make a save for his second clean sheet of the year.
  • Cortes Torres, a transfer, notched his first three points in a Warriors uniform tonight. He totaled 19 points playing for West Virginia Tech last season.
  • Ruiz Maya tallied his first career point and assist tonight. It was his 12th career game and 5th career start.
  • Saint Rose certainly played a physical game, committing 23 fouls and receiving two yellow cards.
