Women's Tennis Sweeps NE-10 Rival Saint Anselm Saturday Morning
WARRIORS OPEN SPRING SLATE WITH 9-0 VICTORY OVER HAWKS IN NE-10 CONFERENCE PLAY
MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Merrimack College women's tennis team opened up the 2014 spring slate with a 9-0 victory over Northeast-10 Conference rival Saint Anselm Saturday afternoon at the Saint Anselm Tennis Courts.

How It Happened
Merrimack claimed all three doubles matches to lead 3-0 at the midway point. The Warriors' top pair Grace Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) and Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) prevailed 8-2. Kara Hole (Portsmouth, R.I.) and Chealsey Giatrelis earned a 8-3 victory over Katie Martin and April Regan. Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) and Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, N.H.) captured a 9-7 win at the third slot.
Grace Messina earned a 6-1, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 slot. Shakee and Chealsey also picked up victories on Sunday by the score of 6-2, 6-0 and 6-1, 6-1 respectively. In the no. 4 and no. 5 singles slot, Hole and Muller earned an 8-5 and 8-4 victory, respectively. Barnes defeated Christine Woods by a score of 8-4.
