Due to inclement weather in Cary, N.C., the Warriors were only able to get two of their six games in. On Saturday afternoon, the Warriors fell to Molloy College, 3-2, before battling back to defeat Caldwell 10-2.
Merrimack recorded the first run of the game in the seventh inning on a RBI single to left field by freshman Cam DiSarcina (Shirley, Mass.) which allowed senior Eddie Newton (North Billerican, Mass.) to score. With the Warriors up 1-0, the Lions scored three unearned runs to take a 3-1 lead over Merrimack heading into the ninth inning.
Merrimack could only respond back with an unearned run by sophomore Sean O'Neill (Norwood, Mass.), off a single to right field by DiSarcina. Senior Tyler Cuming (Red Bank, N.J.) suffered his first loss of the season to the Lions.
For the second time this season, senior Conner McMahon (Westfield, Mass.) recorded the win for the Warriors. Caldwell picked up the early tally in the first to take a 1-0 lead over the Warriors. However, Merrimack responded back with four runs in the bottom of the first and two more in the second to lead 6-1.
The Cougars scored a run in the top of the third, after an error by senior catcher CJ Flannery (Hudson, Mass.). After two scoreless innings, the Navy and Gold extended its lead to eight (10-2) after four scored runs in the sixth.
