Women's Tennis Drops Road Match at #18 Florida Tech
WARRIORS WRAP UP FLORIDA TRIP WITH AN 8-1 LOSS TO PANTHERS
SATELLITE BEACH, Fla. - The Merrimack College women's tennis team fell to #18 Florida Tech Wednesday afternoon, 8-1, in its final match in the Sunshine State. The Warriors slip to 7-3 overall while the Panthers rise to 10-8 on the season.

How it Happened
Florida Tech captured all three doubles matches to hold a 3-0 lead in the match. Junior Chealsey Giatrelis (Centerville, Mass.) and senior Kara Hole (Portsmouth, R.I.) suffered an 8-4 loss at the No. 2 position.
Junior Shakee Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) and freshman Grace Messina (Caracas, Venezuela) fell 8-2 at the top slot while senior Alyx Barnes (Portsmouth, N.H.) and junior Rachel Muller (North Andover, Mass.) were defeated by an 8-1 decision at the No. 3 slot.
In singles play, the Panthers picked up five wins to take the 8-1 victory over the Warriors.
Giatrelis tallied the visitors' lone victory against Florida Tech. The junior prevailed 6-2, 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.
Grace Messina endured a 6-1, 7-5 loss at the top spot to Natasa Vukovic.

"Today's match was a tough fought match against a good team," said head coach Pete Arsenault. "Overall, I thought our trip to Florida was successful. We played a lot of quality opponents which will benefit us as the season goes on."

Merrimack will resume play in the Northeast-10 Conference with a home contest against the University of New Haven on Sunday, March 23. First match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
