How it Happened vs. Queens (N.Y.)

Highlighting the day for Merrimack was freshman Cam DiSarcina (Shirley, Mass.), as he went 2-for-3 from the plate with a triple and a walk. Also contributing offensively for the Warriors was senior Eddie Newton (North Billerica, Mass.), who went 1-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a home run. Sophomore Mike Forgione (North Branford, Conn.), sophomore Frank Crinella (Springfield, Mass.) and sophomore Sean O'Neill (Norwood, Mass.) each chipped in a hit for the Navy and Gold.

Junior Tim Cashman (Rowley, Mass.), freshman Nate Spielvogel (Brookline, Mass.), senior Travis Terrill (Hudson, N.H.) and sophomore Mike Nolan (Pembroke, Mass.) pitched for the Warriors. Cashman started and pitched six innings allowing one run on five hits with five strikeouts. Spielvogel, Terrill and Nolan pitched a half innings, each, of relief while Spielvogel picked up his first career loss as a Warrior.

Merrimack hopped in front with a run in the third and one two innings later to go ahead by two (2-0) after five innings. Sophomore Bobby Losanno (Peabody, Mass.) tallied the visitors' side first run of the day on a RBI ground out to second to send DiSarcina home before Newton followed, in the top of the fifth, with his first home run of the season.

The Knights managed to plate an unearned run against Cashman in the bottom of the sixth. Morris started the frame after getting hit by a pitch before Burnette reach on a throwing error by Cashman to advance Morris. Morris would cross home after Osborn grounded out into a double play, slicing Queens (N.Y.) deficit to one (2-1).

Queens (N.Y.) continued to swing bats as the Knights tacked on three runs in the bottom of the seventh and a run in the eighth to take a 5-2 lead. Merrimack managed one base runner in the ninth, but the Knight's silenced the Warriors' bats to earn its fourth win of the season.
