How It Happened
Merrimack wasted no time hopping on top, as the Warriors claimed a quick 1-0 lead in the top of the first frame. Freshman Cam DiSarcina (Shirley, Mass.) grounded out to shortstop, scoring sophomore Mike Forgione (North Branford, Conn.) to give Merrimack the early advantage.
The Warriors came back swinging in the second, scoring a run off an RBI single up the middle from sophomore Bobby Losanno (Peabody, Mass.). However, Assumption would take the lead in the bottom of the second when a combination of singles, passed balls and a Merrimack fielding error would give the Greyhounds a 4-2 lead.
After a scoreless fourth, Merrimack would respond in the top of the fifth, plating one run of their own. With one out and a runner on third, Forgione would tally his second RBI of the day when he grounded out to the shortstop scoring sophomore Pat Florence (Lawrence, Mass.).
Assumption answered back with a run in the bottom of the fifth. With two outs, Mike Coggeshall singled to right field scoring Billy Johnson to give the host a 5-3 lead. After Merrimack went down in the order of the sixth, the Greyhounds doubled its lead, 6-3, over the Warriors.

Down by seven, the Warriors came together scoring four runs to bring the score to within three (10-7) in the top of the eighth but was unable to keep the rally going leaving three runners on base.
