Dom Madonna (Men's Lacrosse) Named NE-10 Rookie of the Week

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Earning his first-ever weekly conference honor, freshman goalkeeper Dom Madonna (Liverpool, N.Y.) of the Merrimack College men's lacrosse team was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week, unveiled by the league Tuesday afternoon.

Madonna, the Warriors' starting goalkeeper over the last month, helped wrap up the team's 10th win of the season on S aturday after turning in a 10-save performance in a 12-7 road win at Assumption. He  yielded just seven goals despite facing 17 shots and manned the net for all 60 minutes of action.

On the year, Madonna now owns an impressive 8-2 record between the pipes and just a 7.85 goals-against average, contributing to a team defense that yields the second-lowest goals per game in the NE-10. Madonna also boasts a .552 save percentage in 596:21 of total time in net.

Madonna and the Warriors open up NE-10 Championship action with a first round showdown against sixth-seeded Saint Anselm on Tuesday night at Martone-Mejail Field. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m.
