Women's Crew Participates in Class Day Race on Saturday
WARRIORS TAKE PART IN ANNUAL CLASS DAY RACES SATURDAY AFTERNOON
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College women's crew team participated in its Annual Class Day race Saturday afternoon down the Merrimack River, as the team broke up into . This race is a tradition at Merrimack, with the winning team earning bragging rights over the other class years.
Course/Location
The race was approximately 2 miles on our home stretch of the Merrimack River with a strong following current.
The Basics
The "Lumberjacks" team was made up of:

The "Justice League" team was made up of:
Cox: Caitlyn Marchino
Stroke: Lauren Blazon
3: Kaylee McKenna
2: Norina Reda
Bow: Mara Payne
How it Happened
After a close start, the Justice League steadily pulled away and won with a time of 7:30.9 while the Lumberjacks posted a final time of 7:50.3.
What They Said
Head Coach David LeFebvre: "We had the team come up with two competing lineups. They picked the crews and came up with the names. They decided to wear costumes to add a little levity to the occasion before our real racing campaign begins next week. It was a great day overall to add some friendly competitive spirit and simulate a real race-day atmosphere, while at the same time allowing the team to enjoy themselves and have a little fun."
Up Next
The Warriors travel to Mercer, N.J., next Saturday (April 12) to compete in the team's first regatta of the spring, the Knecht Cup, against Division I, II and III competition.
