NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College men's soccer team remained unbeaten in 2014 after a 3-0 victory over previously undefeated St. Michael's College on Saturday night.

How It Happened
After a 2-2 tie against Bentley to begin Northeast-10 play on Tuesday, the Warriors sought to bounce back strongly against the Purple Knights. They certainly did, notching their first clean sheet of the season and scoring at least three goals for the fourth time in six games.
Sophomore Alexander Alleyne (Swampscott, Mass.) got the scoring going in the 42nd minute, volleying in a pass from Rui Cardoso (Bristol, Conn.) into the net. With the tally, Alleyne already has a new career high in goals scored (3).
The second half was more of the same. In the 65th minute, Henrique Etges (Venancio Aires, Brazil) played a ball to Oscar Zepeda Cagide (Jalisco, Mexico) who sent in senior Michael Rincon (Medford, Mass.) all alone on the right side. Rincon calmly took a shot with his left foot, pocketing it into the left netting.
With less than two minutes remaining in the game, the Navy and Gold were awarded a penalty kick. After missing his first attempt earlier in the year, Julio Leon Garcia (Caracas, Venezuela) made sure to score this time around to make the game 3-0.
Senior goalkeeper Jose Silva (Northborough, Mass.) made four saves for his first clean sheet of the year. He increased his own program record with his 22nd career shutout.
Inside The Numbers
- Rincon now leads the Warriors with eight points (2g, 4a) on the season. With tonight's goal, he now has set a new career high in points, eclipsing the mark he set in his freshman year (7).
- Zepeda Cagide arguably played his best game in a Merrimack uniform. The sophomore was active in all phases of the game, and is now second on the Warriors with seven points (2g, 3a).
- After tonight, the Warriors have 17 goals through six games. To put that in perspective, last season Merrimack didn't score their 17th goal until their 12th game of the year.

Merrimack will have six days off before they return to action next Saturday, Sept. 27, against Southern Connecticut State at 6 p.m.
