Volleyball Dominates SCSU 3-0 for First NE-10 Win

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The Merrimack College volleyball team defeated Southern Connecticut State University 3-0 tonight in the Warriors Northeast-10 Conference opener.

How It Happened
The Warriors left no doubt to who was going to win this one as Merrimack dominated from start to finish, 25-21, 25-18 and 25-15.

Senior Stephanie Sheehan (Smithtown, N.Y.) finished with a match-high 12 kills and added six digs. Junior Madison Burke (San Jose, Calif.) compiled 13 digs, the only player in the match to finish with double-digit digs.

Sophomore Tara Stuhr (Huntington Beach, Calif.) accounted for 30 assists, nearly tripling the next closest player in that category.

The Warriors were particularly effective in the third set, notching 13 kills with only three errors for an attack percentage of .455

Inside The Numbers

  • The Navy and Gold extend their longest winning streak since 2010 to six matches. It is also the longest winning streak under fourth-year head coach TJ Hajjar.
  • Senior middle blocker Corrine Gosselin (Lawrence, Mass.) put forth an efficient effort, totaling nine kills on only one error.
  • In addition to leading the team in kills, Sheehan finished with a team-high four service aces.

Up Next
Merrimack takes on St. Anselm on Tuesday at 7 p.m from Bert Hammel Court. The Warriors defeated the Hawks in five sets earlier this season in what was considered a non-conference match.
