What They Said
Head Coach Anne Rounce: "Give SNHU a ton of credit for their love of the game. That was a great team win for us. We need to get hungry for a challenging Adelphi team on the road Saturday with conference play starting up."
How It Happened
Playing against Southern New Hampshire for the first time in program history, the Warriors eased ahead with three goals in the first 15 minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the locker room before exploding for five more insurance tallies in the second half en route to their most lopsided win of the young season.
Seven different Warriors found the black on Tuesday, led by a two-goal, five-point performance off the stick of junior Sydney Bowker (Schenectady, N.Y.). Overall, four different players registered multi-point efforts for Merrimack, while junior Madison Davis (San Jose, Calif.) and senior Gina Rosinski (Derry, N.H.) split halves and each combined for the shutout.
Junior Lindsay Dobecki (Scarborough, Maine) opened the scoring at the 2:08 mark on a feed from Bowker before freshman Taylor Simpson (York, Maine) made it 2-0 less than four minutes later on an assist by sophomore Kaitlin McCauley (Newburyport, Mass.). Bowker registered an unassisted strike just before the 15-minute mark to round out the first half's scoring.
Just over a minute into the second stanza, junior Katrina Squeri (Chelmsford, Mass.) buried a feed from classmate Christine Zubkus (Dover, N.H.) to make it 4-0, and 12 minutes later senior Katie Bishop (Conway, N.H.) finished off a pass from freshman Rylee Hammond (Phillipston, Mass.) to get on the board.
Finally, Bowker, sophomore Nicole Bradley (Essex, Mass.) and Hammond each tapped in a goal apiece within a six-minute span to round out the scoring.
