NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – After playing one game and having another cancelled in the Marriott Kickoff Classic last weekend, the Merrimack College men's soccer team returns to the field tonight at seven to play Molloy College.

The Basics
Date/Time:
09/08 | 7 p.m.
Records: Merrimack (1-0)
| Molloy (0-0-1)
Location:
Martone-Mejail Field | North Andover, Mass.

Last Time Out:
The Warriors played only one half of soccer against Dominican College on Saturday before the game was cancelled due to severe weather. It will not be rescheduled.

Prior to that, Merrimack opened up the 2014 season with a 3-1 win over Caldwell University. Junior Augusto Silva (Hudson, Mass.) and sophomores Joseph Briers (Lincolnshire, England) and Alexander Alleyne (Swampscott, Mass.) scored goals for the warriors.

Senior goalkeeper Jose Silva (Northborough, Mass.) notched his first win of the season only having to make one save against the Cougars attack.

Last Season vs. Molloy:
The Navy and Gold travelled to Long Island to take on the Lions one year ago and left with a 1-0 win. Senior Michael Buraczynski (Littleton, Mass.) scored the lone tally for the Warriors in the 24th minute. J. Silva notched four saves to earn the clean sheet.

The Warriors:

  • Senior Ryan Miller (Holden, Mass.) and sophomore Oscar Zepeda Cagide (Jalisco, Mexico) also got on the score sheet with an assist apiece against Caldwell.
  • Sophomore transfer Jaime Cortes Torres (Seville, Spain) looks to continue his strong start at the striker position. Cortes Torres is tied for first on the team with five shots.

The Opponent:

  • Molloy is also playing in their second game of the season. Last week the Lions drew against Saint Rose 1-1.
  • Freshman Lucas Munoz scored the lone goal for the Lions while junior Lester Franco provided the assist.
  • Senior Justin Corke made five saves to prevent a Saint Rose victory.

Up Next
Merrimack will travel to the University of Bridgeport to participate in the Bridgeport Tournament. On Thursday the Warriors will play in their first of two contests in the tourney against No. 8 LIU Post. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
