NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – With two draws and two losses over its last four games, the Merrimack College men's soccer team aims to right the ship on Tuesday night as the Warriors travel to Assumption College for a Northeast-10 Conference contest with the Greyhounds at 7 p.m.

The Basics
Date/Time:
10/13 | 7 p.m.
Records: Merrimack (7-2-2, 3-2-2 NE-10)
| Assumption (2-7-3, 2-2-3 NE-10)
Location:
Multi-Sport Stadium | Worcester, Mass.

Last Time Out:
The Warriors lost for just the second time in 2015, 2-1, against Southern Connecticut on Saturday afternoon in a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament.

The Owls got on the board in the sixth minute to start the scoring, and then a 14th-minute acrobatic save from sophomore goalkeeper Lucas Rezende (Weymouth, Mass.) kept the Warriors within one goal. Rezende finished with two saves on the afternoon.

In the 28th minute, senior forward Augusto Silva (Hudson, Mass.) took the field for the first time in two weeks and immediately impacted the game. In the 30th minute, graduate midfielder Patrick Jennings (Llandudno, Wales) sent a free kick into the six-yard box, where junior Jaime Cortes Torres (Seville, Spain) headed the ball back to Silva who one-timed a shot into the back of the next.

A late penalty kick for the Owls resulted in the game-winner with less than 20 minutes remaining in the second stanza.

The Warriors currently sit in seventh place in the NE-10 standings with 11 points, but are one point away from fourth place. Despite missing two games, Silva's goal on Saturday vaulted him back into a tie for first in the conference with seven on the season. His 18 points still rank first among the NE-10 leaders.

Sophomore Juan Meza (Cali, Colombia) has six assists on the year, which is the second most in the conference.

Last Season vs. Assumption:
Rezende made his first career start and recorded a shutout and Dushman scored his first career goal in double overtime to lead Merrimack to a thrilling 1-0 victory last season over the Greyhounds.

Dushman took the field in the second extra session, marking his first appearance in the game, and scored in the 107th minute to win. Rezende only need to make on save in his first career appearance with the Navy and Gold.

The Greyhounds:

  • Assumption has a 2-7-3 record on the season, but boasts a 2-2-3 mark in league play as they sit just outside of the playoff picture
  • Ethan Morrow's two goals and four points leads a Greyhounds' offense that has struggled, only scoring seven times in 12 games
  • Senior goalkeeper Dana King, who made eight saves last year against the Warriors, has a 0.98 goals against average and a .809 save percentage, making 38 saves in over 800 minutes of action

Up Next
The Navy and Gold host Franklin Pierce this Saturday at 6 p.m. at Martone-Mejail Field as part of Homecoming Weekend.
