Women's Soccer Looks for Fourth-Straight Win at Southern Connecticut Saturday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Merrimack College women's soccer team will try to win its fourth-straight game when they take on Southern Connecticut on Saturday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference play.
The Basics

Last Time Out:
The Warriors won their third straight game for the first time this season when they took on Bentley in Waltham, Mass. on Wednesday afternoon. Merrimack would win in a 1-0 thriller, with the Warriors' lone goal coming in the 89th minute of the foot of sophomore Andrea Rego (Dartmouth, Mass.). Rego would get free for a breakaway after a long clear from the defensive end was headed right to rego by sophomore Victoria Carter (Smithfield, R.I.)
Last Season vs. Southern Conn.:
These two teams would meet once early in the season in 2014 with Merrimack coming out victorious in a 1-0 win at Martone-Mejail Field. The Warriors' lone goal was scored by senior captain Deirdre Roberts (Braintree, Mass.) off assists from senior Jenna Savi (Dedham, Mass.) and sophomore Sarah Boucher (Northbridge, Mass.)
The Warriors:
- The Warriors are on a three-game win streak for the first time this season. Their last three game win streak came in the first three games of the 2014 season.
- Savi still leads the team in scoring on the season with six goals and eight assists for 20 points. Her eight assists are second in the NE-10.
- Senior Meghan Gulbrandsen (Haverhill, Mass.) and sophomore Molly Meehan (Fairfield, Conn.) put together their fourth combined-shutout of the season on Wednesday.
The Owls:
- Southern Conn. is 4-7 on the season with a 4-5 record in the NE-10. They just ended a three-game losing streak on Wednesday at Le Moyne College with a 1-0 win.
- Caroline Staudle leads the offensive production for the Owls, leading the team with four goals and nine points.
