Top-10 Teams Clash When #6 Field Hockey Hosts #7 Assumption Wednesday (4:30pm)

NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – Two top-10 teams will meet at Martone-Mejail Field on Wednesday evening when the sixth-ranked Merrimack College field hockey team hosts seventh-ranked Assumption for game between the top two teams in the Northeast-10 Conference.

Last Time Out:
Merrimack scored six goals for the second time this season and senior goalkeeper Madison Davis (San Jose, Calif.) posted her second shutout of the season to help the Warriors win their eighth-consecutive game this past Thursday over Southern New Hampshire. Senior Lindsay Dobecki (Scarborough, Maine) would highlight the scoring for the Navy and Gold with her second two-goal game in the last three.
NE-10 Postseason Outlook:
The top-six programs in the NE-10 standings advance to the NE-10 Championship, with the top-two teams receiving a bye. The three and four seeds will host quarterfinal matchups on Tuesday, Nov. 3. The Warriors have three games remaining in the regular season following the matchup Wednesday with Assumption.

Earlier This Season vs. Assumption:
The Warriors first win of 2015 would come over Assumption in their second game of the season back in early September when both teams were unranked, beating the Greyhounds by a score of 2-1 in Worcester. Freshman Mary McNeil (Canton, Mass.) would score the game-winner and her first career goal in the second half of the game. In 11 games since then, McNeill has added another nine goals and eight assists during her rookie season.
The Warriors:
- Merrimack will try to extend its win streak to nine games on Wednesday for the first time since 2012, when the Warriors made the NCAA Final Four.
- McNeil and sophomore Rylie Hammond (Phillipston, Mass.) are both tied for second in the NE-10 in goals with 10, and both sit in the top-five in points with 28 and 23, respectively.
- Davis is top-five in three statistical categories in the NE-10, including second in save percentage (.815)
The Greyhounds:
- Assumption is 11-3 on the year including an undefeated 8-0 in the NE-10. They have won 10 straight games since losing three of their first four.
- Senior Kiley Colucci leads a roster of relatively even scoring distribution with six goals and five assists for 17 points
- Goalkeeper Bridget Boyle has led Assumption to this successful season, posting a sub-one goals against average of 0.92 and notching five shutouts on the year
