Last Time Out:
Merrimack picked up one of its most important victories of the season on Saturday when the Warriors defeated second-ranked Southern New Hampshire, 2-0, from Larkin Field in Manchester, N.H. The Navy and Gold snapped a seven-game winless streak against the Penmen, including multiple postseason meetings, and handed the Penmen their first regular season loss at home since September of 2013.

Reserve goalkeeper Cody Russell (Oceanside, Calif.) played in over 70 minutes and notched three saves for his first career win as Russell as set career highs in minutes played, and recorded his first-ever save in the second half.

Sophomore Mattia Lanzi (Viterbo, Italy) scored the first goal after his shot managed to work its way through a crowd of bodies and into the back of the net. Silva responded in the second half with his conference-leading ninth goal to prove the Warriors with some insurance.

Named the NE-10 Player of the Week for the second time this season, Silva now has new career highs in both goals (9) and points (22), ranking second in the conference in the latter statistic. Junior forward Jaime Cortes Torres (Seville, Spain), who assisted on Silva's tally on Saturday, has points in straight and in four of his last five games to move into second on the team in scoring (4g, 2a).

Last Season at Saint Anselm:
The Warriors scored three second-half goals to turn a 0-0 draw into a romp as Merrimack took down Saint Anselm, 3-0, last season up in Manchester.

Oscar Zepeda Cagide (Jalisco, Mexico) scored the game-winner less than a minute into the second half. Leon Garcia and Michael Dushman (Bedford, Mass.) followed suit with unassisted markers to create the three-goal margin.

The Hawks:

  • Saint Anselm has struggled this season, especially in conference play, recording just two points in 11 league contests
  • Juniors Zachary Heckt and Jack Lynch are tied for the team lead with eight points apiece, with Lynch's four goals first on the squad. Sophomore Jack Heintzelman's five assists lead the team
  • Junior Stephen McLeod has started 11 of 13 games for the Hawks, registering a 2.08 goals against average and a .728 save percentage
