How It Happened
With their win on Saturday, the Warriors clinched an Northeast-10 Conference playoff berth. The program has now also posted winning season in 31 out of 32 years under Mejail, which is the most in the history of Division II.
The first goal of the game would be netted by Carter at the 22:48 mark of the first half. Freshman Erika Scott (Mendon, Mass.) started the play, running the ball up the right side. She would serve the ball into the box where senior Jenna Savi (Dedham, Mass.) was ready and waiting. Savi would quickly flick the ball over to Carter who slid and tipped the ball by the keeper for her first of the game.
Junior captain Megan Gada (Bozrah, Conn.) scored the second for Merrimack, recieving the ball on a drop pass from Carter and one-time volleying the pass right under the crossbar to put Merrimack up two.
Carter's second and the final goal of the game would come in the 81st minute on an assist from sophomore Cori Gillen (Stow, Mass.). Gillen delivered a through ball to Carter, who then ran by two defenders with a stutter step and put the ball by the keeper on the far post to give the Warriors the 3-0 lead.
