SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Merrimack College women's golf team is currently in ninth place out of 15 teams, at the Dan Salisbury Memorial in Springfield, Illinois, after Day 1 action on Saturday. The Warriors currently sit four strokes back of fifth place and ten stokes back of second, as the team prepares for Day 2 action tomorrow.

How It Happened
Freshman Krystal Knight (Groveland, Mass.) continues to perform admirably in her rookie season, as she fired a 78 and currently sits in a tie for fourth overall in the field. The Groveland, Massachusetts, native has posted scores in the 70s in seven of eight rounds this season, while being the Warriors' top-finisher in four-specific rounds. The freshman standout is currently averaging a team-low 76.5 strokes per round.
Sophomore Jessica Wagner (San Diego, Calif.) currently sits in a tie for 26th overall, as she fired a first-round total of 83. Sophomore Alessandra Ricigliano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) fired an opening-round mark of 84 and currently resides in a tie for 31st in the field.
Senior captain Jaclyn Drew (Lunenburg, Mass.) fired an 87 and is in a tie for 46th overall. Rounding out the scores for the Warriors was sophomore Samantha Monaco (Brewster, N.Y.), as she fired a 92 and is currently tied for 72nd overall.
