BOSTON, Mass. – Sophomore Carly Muscaro (Ashland, Mass.) set a meet record in the 400 meters en route to winning the event for the first time, as the Merrimack College women's track & field team posted a sixth-place finish at the Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championships on Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston.

Event:
Northeast-10 Conference Indoor Championships
Location: Reggie Lewis Center | Boston, Mass.

What They Said
Head coach Jacky Mendes: "Overall it was an awesome day to be a warrior. I'm very proud of the accomplishments this team has made this season. The amount of personal records achieved today speaks to their hard work and dedication to the track, field and weight room. This NE-10 Championship was extremely competitive and Merrimack definitely rose to the occasion. I am very excited for the New England Championship and Carly Muscaro's debut in the USA Indoor National Championship next weekend."

How It Happened
Muscaro's record-setting time of 54.87 seconds in the 400 meters was run just minutes after she finished seventh in the 60 meters, running a time of 7.93 seconds. Teammate and senior Noelia Figuereo (Haverhill, Mass.) finished just behind Muscaro in eighth, also hitting a time of 7.93 seconds, which was her best time of the season in that event.

More importantly, Muscaro will make her national debut at the USA Indoor National Championships next weekend in the 400 meters. More details will be provided later this week on that event.

Sophomore Olivia Downey (Melrose, Mass.) ran a time of 1:16.3 in the 500 meters, which is a new personal best and earned her third place overall in the event. Junior Bethany Labossier (Derry, N.H.) ran a time of 1:20.09, which was also a personal-best time and was good for eighth overall (fourth on the Merrimack all-time list).

Junior Sarah May (Peabody, Mass.) finished seventh in the 800 meters with a personal-best time of 2:23.52, while freshman Kylie Reardon (Billerica, Mass.) finished fifth in the 1000 meters, running a personal-record 3:10.24, which was also third on the Merrimack all-time list.

In the mile, sophomore Sarah Duffy (Wenham, Mass.) ran a 5:38.05, which is a personal record and placed seventh in the event. Senior Kelsey Gimmer (Shelton, Conn.) placed sixth in the 5000 meters, running a time of 19:31.18.

Rookie Abby Adams (Mattapoisett, Mass.) ran a personal-best time in the 60 hurdles and also is now second all-time at Merrimack with a time of 9.58 seconds.

In the field events, Downey and classmate Sarah Barnett (Bridgewater, Mass.) each cleared 1.57 meters to place fifth. Sophomore Emily Mauro (Northborough, Mass.) cleared 2.75 meters in the pole vault to finish sixth overall.

Barnett hit a mark of 5.18 meters in the long jump, which is good for third all-time at Merrimack. Adams his 5.25 meters, which is second all-time for the Warriors and freshman Lauren MacGregor (Salem, N.H.) set a new school record, clearing 5.39 meters, placing eighth in the event.

MacGregor finished up her strong day with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump, hitting 11.26 meters.

Up Next
Merrimack will return to Boston University next Saturday to take part in the New England Championships. It will be the final indoor competition of the season before the team moves to the outdoor season beginning in late March.
