Marauders Stymy Softball in 3-0 Setback Sunday
Links: Box Score
CLERMONT, Fla. – The Merrimack College softball team strung together eight hits but was kept off the board, as the Warriors suffered a 3-0 shutout setback against the University of Mary during their third day in Florida on Sunday afternoon.
The Basics
Score: U. Mary 3, Merrimack 0
Records: Merrimack (3-3) | Mary (8-13)
Location: National Training Center | Clermont, Fla.
How It Happened
The Marauders tacked on three early runs in the bottom of the first, and brilliant bitching by starter N. Dudley made that lead stand the rest of the way.
Merrimack put together eight hits, including two-hit performances by sophomores Mariah Tenney (Winchendon, Mass.) and Samantha Waskowitz (Killingworth, Conn.), but Dudley's efforts were too much. She struck out eight while working around one walk to hand Merrimack its second shutout in three games.
The best chance for Merrimack came in the second after Tenney singled, stole second and moved to third on a passed ball, but she was stranded there to end the threat. Merrimack left two more on base in the fourth and fifth, as well.
