The Warriors battled #1/3 Franklin Pierce in a three-game series over the weekend, with the Ravens sweeping Merrimack. The Warriors gave one of the top teams in the nation all they could handle, especially in the doubleheader on Sunday. Merrimack loaded the bases in the bottom of the ninth in Game 1 only trailing by one run, but they were unable to tie or win the game. In the series finale, the Navy and Gold led at 6-2 for the first time in the series, but the Ravens scored seven runs in the sixth inning to comeback.
On Saturday afternoon, prior to the series opener, the Warriors honored their seven members of the Class of 2015 in a Senior Day ceremony. Carnevale tossed a complete game last Sunday, albeit in a losing effort. He sits five innings away from tying the program record (245.0) in innings pitched. He also has 16 career wins, which is the second most in the program history.
Junior third baseman Frank Crinella (East Longmeadow, Mass.) has been on a tear of late. The Preseason All-American is riding an 11-game hitting streak, including six multi-hit games during that stretch. He is hitting .369 with two home runs and 20 RBI on the season, to go along with 17 steals and 30 runs scored.
